Since I have had a property with Positive Directions and received support from my Housing Support Officer and other members of the team, it has allowed me to move forward with my life.  They help with day to day life and also help with employment and various other activities such as training and boxing at the gym.  There have also been times when I have ran out of food and other supplies and I have been supported with items from my Housing Support Officer Bev.  I have also had support with mental health such as calls to check I am ok, and to make sure I have got everything I need, along with managing my bills and food schedules and also help with replacing any broken items in the property.

Gary,  just to say a massive "Thank You" to yourself and the whole PDNE team for the speed of getting me in here and this fantastic  opportunity to get back on my feet.  The house is very clean and very spacious and just what I need. Paul and Bev were a great help and support this morning! I will be in touch properly over the next few days once I've unpacked and got my bearings etc. Once again a huge thanks for this opportunity and welcome from yourself and all at PDNE!

Just wanna say thank you for today, it really means a lot and what you do really helps with my motivation and I get to do other stuff like my bedding and changing those on couch, the stuff I wouldn’t be able to get on with because I would be too tired from the hoovering and tidying etc etc, everything you did today.  Nothing goes unnoticed and/or unappreciated and this really helps me just feel better and it lifts my mood when I’m tired or just fed up.

Before I was in Positive Directions I was in a dark place, alone and had no support around me, also I was being manipulated by people living near me and I felt unsafe there.  I came to Positive Directions because I wanted a support network.  Positive Directions has helped me as I now feel I have a support network and I have been helped in all aspects of my life like with doctors, PIP and other areas.  I feel more confident and I am now more independent and now I feel like I am moving in a positive way.  If I was not with Positive Directions I would probably still be in that dark place.

Before I was with Positive Directions I was living with my parents and I have never lived on my own or looked after myself.  I went to Positive Directions to help develop skills with independent living.  I was referred to Positive Directions by my social worker who wanted me to gain some social skills and independent skills.  Positive Directions has helped me develop skills, and now I am eating healthy, I am able to do my housework and look after myself and the house I am living in.  Also Positive Directions have helped me with budgeting my money.  I now understand the responsibilities with having my own place and I feel like I am living more of an adult lifestyle and more relaxed.

I am Joannah Fraser, specialist adviser supporting young people with Special educational needs aged 16 to 25.  I have worked with Positive Directions N.E. (CIC) for approximately 3 years referring the young people I work with for specialist support.  The service is a high quality provision with a bespoke support package which offers invaluable support to the most vulnerable young people.  I have referred multiple young people and have always been impressed with the speedy response, support and aftercare given. 

The provision is a must and without it, I am not sure where my young people would be.  The staff and the ethos behind the company is like nothing I have ever seen elsewhere, all support is offered without judgement which is often a major barrier to individuals.  Young people are encouraged and supported to build their confidence and self esteem to enable them to succeed in life surrounded by role models which gives that extra push that many vulnerable people need.
